Recipe of the Day

Apple and raisin muffins

Here at Fine to Dine, health is important to us (although it may be hard to believe). So sometimes, we have to give up a chocolate infused, sugar coated or caramel stuffed recipes and try out desserts that are more heart healthy. So with this in mind, I am sharing with you my favourite healthy muffin recipe that's filled with yummy fruits.

The recipe can be found here. It contains no butter and is loaded with nutrient dense apples and raisins. This fibre filled treat is sure to be a hit in you household, and I can assure you that both kids and adults will enjoy them. To make this recipe even more health conscious I replaced the buttermilk with ordinary lite cows milk and the caster sugar with brown sugar and it still turned out perfectly.

Spanish Doughnuts!

Hello food lovers!

It's midday, the awkward time between breakfast and lunch.. you're getting peckish and you feel like something sweet. You feel like Spanish Doughnuts.

Spanish Doughnuts can be found in Macquarie Centre, conveniently located within a 2 minute walk from Macquarie University and train station. They serve a range of different foods and beverages including sweet and savory churros, hotdogs, coffee, hot chocolate and frozen drinks.

On my visit I tried the strawberry cheesecake churro and the cinnamon dusted long stick churros with melted chocolate dipping sauce. They were both delicious in their own unique way. The strawberry cheesecake churro was a cold churro stuffed with a smooth, sweet strawberry cream-cheese filling and covered in rich white chocolate and rainbow sprinkles.

The long stick churros were warm and freshly made on order. The were golden and crispy on the outside and warm and doughy on the inside. The melted pot of milk chocolate was deliciously creamy and went beautifully with the churro. It was definitely hard not going back for seconds.

Random recipe!

Hey there my favorite food lovers!

So it's early Sunday morning and your tummy is rumbling, yep I know the feeling! You say you want a tasty breaky to keep you going but you don't want to spend ages in the kitchen fiddling with too many ingredients and utensils?
I've got you covered :)

My simple yet delicious breakfast idea is a Fresh Haloumi and Tomato Open Grill!

What you'll need:
Half a tomato, sliced
25g stringed haloumi cheese
A large white hamburger bun sliced open

Method:
1. Preheat your oven 250 degrees, and turn on the grill setting
2. Cover the inner side of the bun with the haloumi
3. Place the tomato slices on top and season with cracked pepper
4. Grill for 5-10 minutes or until cheese is melted. Serve immediately.

I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as me and my family do. It is simple, satisfying and very tasty.

Sapore

This restaurant is in Leichardt, the Australian version of Italy! The Italian Forum is definitely a place everyone should consider going to for a nice dinner and maybe invite a special someone. :)

Although plates got a bit pricey, the food quality and quantity were absolute perfection making them worth the price!

We were welcomed and served by very friendly staff, although the restaurant was filled with people (literally did not see one empty table-good sign) they still managed to smile and check up on us. Now the most important part, the FOOD. Well presented and delicious. Would've licked the plate clean but had to remember our manners! I ordered the popular chicken fungi, we also had a vegetarian spaghetti aglio and a chicken ripieno. Check out some photos below!

Sapore definitely has the Fine to Dine tick of Approval!

Classic Cupcakes!

Hello fellow sweet-toothed friends!

As much as we love our dining, sometimes it’s just nice to relax at home in your sweats and messy hair and put your own culinary skills to work!

Since we bloggers are pretty obsessed with sugar, today we are sharing another sugar filled, mouth watering dessert recipe that is sure to knock your socks off! CUPCAKES!!! Your taste buds won’t know what hit them!

The best part is that it’s very easy to create this delicious taste of heaven in the comfort of your own home with basic ingredients (no fancy named ingredients that you wouldn’t have a clue where to find in the supermarket like nutmeg!). Just click on this link and you will be one step closer to accomplishing your dreams of becoming a chef!

Now we can’t forget the ultimate BEST part of any dessert recipe and that is the decorating that comes into play at the end. This is when your skills are really put to the test! You can choose from an endless list of options in making your dessert look that much more appealing such as sprinkles,  silver mini dragees, icing, whipped cream, assorted berries, chocolate chips -to name a few!  You’re sure to have anyone you share your cupcakes with licking the tips of their fingertips once they demolish the plate!

House of Thai

Hey there Food Lovers!

Today I dined out at the lovely House of Thai in Bankstown. I must admit that I eat at this restaurant regularly, and I am a big fan of their authentic Thai dishes.

The dim lighting and dark furnishings give the space a warm, cozy feel and the cushioned booths really make you feel at home.

The food is is quite affordable with entrees starting and $1.50 and mains ranging from $9-$25. You definitely get more than what you pay for as the servings are very generous and meals arrive swiftly. I also can't go without mentioning that the food is always delicious, fresh and satisfying.

Moochi Natural Frozen Yoghurt

Hi Food Lovers!!

Today's food destination of choice was Moochi, a popular frozen yogurt shop in North Strathfield!

On arrival I was pretty shocked by the small shop size and lack of seating area, there was barely enough chairs and tables to seat 10 people. This is probably why many customers  take their yoghurt and eat it outside the store or elsewhere.

Nevertheless, the dessert definitely lived up to the hype. The fresh, natural yoghurt was available in four fresh flavours; original, green tea, pomegranate and watermelon. Customers can also choose three toppings from dozens of choices. It is also quite affordable with all options being $15 and under.

I definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a fresh, natural and healthy dessert option.

Random Recipe!

Hey food lovers,

If you're anything like myself I'm sure you try heaps of different recipes before you stick to one that's juuuuust right. Well I've got the solution to your problem... the PERFECT brownie recipe!

Today I was looking for a quick dessert recipe that I could whip up for a get together tonight before I had to rush off to uni. I knew that brownies would do the job, but I didn't have a recipe. So after some web surfing I came across this quick and simple recipe that has got my guests coming back for thirds!

Brownies before being cooked

Straight out of the oven

The recipe I used can be found here. These brownies were soft and fudgy, with the rich chocolatey brownie goodness. The macadamia's were a great  contrast to the sweet ingredients. The brownies were great served warm (although they would taste just as delicious at room temperature) with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Please feel free to let me know if you enjoyed this recipe as much as I did :)

Chocolates Del Mondo

Hey everybody! So we've had the pleasures of having dessert and coffee at the well known chocolates del Mondo.

There is a wide range of desserts on the menu and the quick service makes the place more tempting to revisit! All sweets ordered came with fresh fruits and scoops of ice cream.

The waffles are to die for and the brownies leave you wanting more! With their reasonable prices, Chocolates Del Mondo has the 'Fine To Dine' tick of approval!

Do not miss out. :)

Nick's Seafood Restaurant

Hey Guys!

Prepare yourselves for a mouth watering seafood experience that will leave you asking for more! Nick's Seafood Restaurant in Cockle Bay Darling Harbour provided us with the freshest of fresh seafood dishes.

What makes the Nick's Seafood dining experience so special is the amazing view of the Darling Harbour Wharf from your table. This definitely is a bonus for the overall dining experience.

The prices of the main meals range between $35 and $50 (so if you're on a budget, this probably isn't the best place to dine). Although the food was great and the view was beautiful, I can't exactly say that the menu wasn't a bit over priced for the portions and quality provided. You can check the menu out  here and decide for yourself.

Salt and Pepper Calamari

The three dishes we ordered:

  •  Chargrilled King Prawns ($39.50), mixed Leaf, Chilli and Palm Sugar Dipping Sauce.

  •  Salt and Pepper Calamari $35.00, whole Baby Calamari and Passionfruit Dressing.

  •  Vongole and Crab Meat Pasta $35.00, parmesan, Tomato and Pesto Sauce.

Overall food quality was average but the service and view were superb!

Recipe of the day - OREO Stuffed Cookies!

Any recipe with Oreo's as the main ingredient, are definitely worth a try if you ask me! When I came by this recipe I didn't think twice, I knew this recipe would satisfy my sweet tooth. And it most definitely did!

I originally found this recipe here while browsing the web for new recipes. It was a simple yet mouth watering recipe.

The subtle sweetness of the cookie dough went perfectly with the distinct cookie and cream heaven that is Oreo's ! These cookies were soft and fluffy on the outside and warm and gooey on the inside. This special treat is great served warm with a cup of milk. Be sure to grab your share as quick as possible, because I can assure you they won't last very long!

Waffllicious

Time for the best meal of the day...DESSERT!!

As the name suggests, Wafflicious is famously known among locals for its delicious waffles as well as its diverse range of other popular desserts. Our Wafflicious experience was definitely one to remember.

The restaurant is of great size and the lavish design gives off a contemporary vibe. It is located near the town centre of Auburn and has seating available both inside and outside which is also great to cater for a variety of people. We were greeted by friendly staff who were happy to seat us at a comfortable table.

The menu had our hearts racing and mouths watering so luckily there wasn't a long wait to be served and once our plates arrived we were not disappointed as the desserts were presented in a deliciously exquisite manner. To top it all off, the prices were so affordable that we even got to walk away with change :P

This also earns Wafflicious the 'Fine to Dine' tick of approval!

p.s. feel free to take a look at the pics of what we had to eat but try not to drool!

Flame Steakhouse

Hey guys! So last night I did go to the amazing Flame Steakhouse in Bankstown and I am in love. I ordered a barbecue chicken pizza, the cheeseburger pizza, ribs and chicken with mushroom sauce served with veges and mash. Can I just say, I didn't have all this to myself. :)

Everything was cooked superbly! The ribs were crispy from the outside and tender from the inside, the woodfire pizzas were amazing and the chicken and mushroom sauce were complimented with the fresh steamed veges.

If you are looking for a nice and clean place to have lunch or dinner with your mates, Flame Steakhouse has the 'Fine to Dine' tick of approval!
